Last week we celebrated our second Leader in Me Assembly and we would like to recognize our spectacular Students of the Month for September 2024!

In the Belle Fourche School District, we take pride in empowering every student to become confident, active leaders both in and out of the classroom. We focus on developing essential skills that will support their success as lifelong learners and leaders who uplift themselves and others. Just the same as last year, students in the Belle Fourche Elementary schools this school year have been engaging with an online program called Leader in Me. Each school day, our young Bronc students practice and study seven foundational habits designed to enhance their personal effectiveness, guiding them toward happiness and enabling them to lead positive change in the world.

The seven effective habits that our schools work to helps students build to be great leaders and role models include:

Leader in Me Habits

Our South Park leaders nominated and celebrated this month at our assembly for the month of September for their outstanding leadership skills included:

·         Della Wilen (1st Grade): Della showed leadership by using Habit 1-Put First Things First by working hard and taking her time to do her best work. This leader also uses Habit 6- Synergize by working well with her peers and being respectful and helpful to adults.

·         Alora Thompson (1st Grade): Alora was a leader through Habit 1-Be Proactive by taking charge of her listening skills. She also uses Habit 3-Put First Things First to stay on task and finish her work.

·         Katelyn Daniels (2nd Grade): Katelyn showed leadership using Habit 4- Think Win-Win by helping her classmates whenever they need it and has a great attitude while doing it. She wants to see everyone succeed.

·         Sapphire Grusing (2nd Grade): Sapphire showed leadership using Habit 6- Synergize by showing that working together with her classmates is better. She also used Habit 4-Think Win-Win by always being ready to take on new tasks and persevere through challenges.

·         Ryleighn Njos (3rd Grade): Ryleighn leads in the classroom using Habit 4-Think Win-Win by always considering the needs and desires or others and working to find solutions to problems in groups. She also excels in Habit 6- Synergize by planning out how each group member can participate equally.

Krissa Williamson (3rd Grade): Krissa showed leadership using Habits 1-Be Proactive by being in charge of the positive attitude that she chooses to come to school with. She also shows Habit 3- Put First Things First by completing her work and making good choices without being asked.

·         Amari Grove (4th Grade): Amari was a leader using Habit 3 – Put First Things First by putting in effort towards getting her work done. She also uses Habit 1-Be Proactive by showing she is in charge of making good choices.

·         Lyla Moore (4th Grade): Lyla used Habit3-Put First Things First to lead completing her most important work first before she gets free time. She also uses Habit 4-Think Win-Win to help her fellow classmates and work as a great partner.

·         Plus - A special shoutout: To our student of the month who has strived and worked hard to have already completed our online literacy program Lexia Core 5... Way to go 4th graders Isabelle Freed and Greta Abraham for completing all of Lexia Core 5!!

Not only did we recognize some of our South Park leaders from each grade, but two North Park Elementary student leaders were also nominated and celebrated for demonstrating overall leadership abilities in alignment with our seven Leader in Me habits! Our North Park kindergarten leaders celebrated for the month of September are Tyndall Vetter from Yellow Door and Aspyn Wood from Purple Door! Way to go Tyndall and Aspyn for being  great leaders and friends, as well as  motivated learners!

We are incredibly proud of our South and North Park leaders for embodying these foundational habits in ways that highlight their unique strengths. This month, we celebrated our leaders with not only their own leader medals and certificates, but also a gift certificate for a free DQ Blizzard for South Park Students and a complimentary meal at Applebee’s for North Park Students!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Belle Fourche families, school staff, dedicated students, and community organizations for coming together to provide the opportunities, tools, and skills that empower our students to thrive and reach their fullest potential. We are also excited for next month’s Leader in Me assemblies at South Park and North Park, where we will celebrate our hardworking young Broncs as they continue to develop essential leadership skills.

Great job, South Park and North Park Broncs! Your commitment to being outstanding leaders and enhancing your skills each month is truly commendable—keep up the fantastic work!
